Bicol Series: Donsol, The Whale shark Capital

Documenting our 2019 Summer Starter…

Itinerary:

Day 1 – Donsol, The Whale shark Capital
-6AM. We arrived the airport and was greeted by the magestic Mayon. In the airport, take a tricycle going to the UV Express terminal. Php50
-6:15AM. Take the UV Express going to Donsol. It took us 30 to 45 minutes waiting for other passengers but they will not fill all the seats. We were only 9 passengers out of 18 maximum possible passengers. Php98 each. We added Php25 each to the UV Express in order to take us to Elysia Beach resort as it is 4kms away from Donsol town center.

-8:30AM. We arrived at Elysia Beach Resort. The resort is clean, the staff is friendly. Php3,725 per night.

-8:30AM to 10:30AM. We used the time to wash up, rest sometime and enjoy the view offered by the resort.

-10:30AM. We ordered our lunch, though it can only be served after 11AM. Food is delicious. As always, friendly staff. Total bill is Php1,045 for 3 person.

-6PM. Earlier, we reserved for fireflies watching. We were fetched by a tricycle at 6PM in the resort. It took us 15 to 20 minutes to get to the tourism registration area, just beside the wharf along the river Ogod.

-6:30PM. We rode the bangka and traveled inland to where the fireflies converge. We arrived at the place around 15 to 20 minutes. The fireplies usually converge on Talisay trees to mate and eat. Though Donsol is well known for its whalesharks, it’s a must to take the fireflies watching package as a sidetrip. Best taken on moonless nights! Php1,250 – boat ride, Php300 – tricycle ride, Php200 – service fee, Php100 – tip to Mang Bernard, our guide.

-8:00PM. We finished the fireplies watching and headed to BARacuda to have our dinner.

It is just a 3 minute walk to Elysia Beach Resort. BARacuda serves fresh seafood! The owner, Juliet, is very accomodating going to every customer’s table to socialize. Php1,100 for the whole meal.

-9:30PM. We walked back to our resort and just relaxed to the ambience until we retired to our beds. Tomorrow will be another great day. 😉

Will try to keep you posted.. Watch out for the next part.
